Serial numbers can de deciphered in this fashion
First letter designates factory, (as in)
S = Samick, Korea
I = Saein, Korea
U = Unsung, Korea
SJ = Sae Jung, China (though we came across some SJ serial numbers on guitars that carried a sticker made in Korea)
BW = China
DW = China
the next two digits equal the year of manufacture
the next two digits equal the month of production
the next four digits equal the number in that production run
An example: S02037283 would mean the guitar was built in march 2002 by the Samick factory in Korea
Sometimes there are only 7 digit numbers, if you come across such a number for example like U7110962 it is very likely that the guitar was manufactured in november 1997 not in october 1971.
There are lots of different other serial numbers beginnign with other letters and have a total different digit code.
B = guitars with serial numbers beginning with B are obviously from the Czech Republic and only available in Europe
